Description: Complete web-based authentication, metering, and billing solution for wireless internet access; V-Link hotspots include major hotel chains such as Hilton, Doubletree, Embassy Suites, Sheraton, Hampton Inn and others; Other high profile clients using Passym solution for their hotspots include Princess Cruise Ships, TravelCenters of America, GPS industries, and the Resort Municipality of Whistler under the Yodel brand
Key Features Implemented:
- Reliable, maintainable, and scalable solution for mission critical, high volume transaction processing application running on load balanced servers; Passym backend used by thousands of users everyday to surf the internet
- Support for multiple hotspot gateways manufactured by vendors such as Colubris Networks, Nomadix, and ValuePoint; Initially, Passym supported only Colubris gateways
- Convenient billing options, which allow end users to purchase wireless access time using a credit card, prepaid access card, or by billing time to their hotel room; Addition of the Bill-To-Room option leveraging Nomadix wireless gateway's Property Management System (PMS) considered a huge win for V-Link and helped grow their footprint in the hospitality industry
- Custom billing option for TravelCenters of America (TCA), which leverages XML web services to allow truckers to purchase wireless access time by redeeming points accumulated in their TCA RoadKing Club Program account
- Flexible billing packages, which allow end users to purchase hourly, daily, weekly, and monthly packages based on a per minute usage model, time-based expiration model, or surf for free; Package types and denominations completely configurable via the Passym Administration Portal
- Custom user interfaces for Yodel Wireless, GPS Industries, Princess Cruise Ships, and TravelCenters of America
- Security improvements in Passym's credit card processing module, which include implementation of AVS (Address Verification System), CSC (Cardholder Security Code), and storage of credit card information in encrypted format in backend database using a Triple DES (Data Encryption Standard) algorithm
- Integration of Passym's billing mechanism with Wave3 Software's video conferencing, data collaboration, and multipoint conferencing software leveraging XML web services and custom APIs; Solution provides a way to bill users for time spent using Wave3 software
- Intuitive administration portal which makes the task of setting up and managing hotspots a breeze; Extensive reporting capabilities allow monitoring of all aspects of an end user's session including physical location (hotspot), session starting and ending times, IP and MAC addresses, and payment history
Other Responsibilities:
- Mentoring junior developers and ensuring that project milestones and deadlines are met on time and on budget
- Working closely with Customer Support team to identify and resolve bugs, performance bottlenecks, and usability issues
- Developing user documentation for administrators, end users, and organizations using Passym solution
- Educating V-Link employees, partners, and clients on how to use, configure, and customize Passym
- Researching V-Link competitors and incorporating new features into the product
